The new generation of UHPC design guides (e.g. the FHWA Design Guide and upcoming AASHTO Guide) are moving away from prescriptive provisions to performance criteria. Instead of specifying a minimum amount of steel fibers, the new provisions now require a minimum crack localization strain, εt,loc=0.0025. This important move ensures consistent structural performance. Our Type X steel fibers are specifically designed to address the new specifications. Their unique surface striations allow you to: 1) use a lower fiber dosage to achieve the same performance as traditional fibers and save, or 2) use the same fiber dosage to design slimmer components and also save.
