The new generation of UHPC design guides (e.g. the FHWA Design Guide and upcoming AASHTO Guide) are moving away from prescriptive provisions to performance criteria. Instead of specifying a minimum amount of steel fibers, the new provisions now require a minimum crack localization strain, εt,loc=0.0025. This important move ensures consistent structural performance. Our Type X steel fibers are specifically designed to address the new specifications. Their unique surface striations allow you to: 1) use a lower fiber dosage to achieve the same performance as traditional fibers and save, or 2) use the same fiber dosage to design slimmer components and also save. The savings are substantial.
